Phone Review
The LG Chocolate VX8550: purchase it for ninety-nine dollars with a two year contract. The phone comes in Blue Ice, Navy Blue, and Dark Red. It has a 1.3 mega-pixel camera on the back, but only when slid up can the camera be used, and the camera has no flash. The phone is very sleek, a much improved version of the first chocolate. The send and end keys are now on the inside of the slide and the touch pad locks so you don’t accidentally select something by touching it with your cheek in the middle of a phone call. The navigation wheel spins in both directions, with a trace light, that can be turned on or off in the settings, to follow your movements, but you can also click the wheel if you don’t like to spin it to move around. It has a vibrations feed back on the touch pad so you know when you are touching it which can also be turned on and off. The main menu consists of contacts, recent calls, settings & tools, get it now & media center, and lastly messages. Within the contact list you may have groups, as many as you please, speed dials, up to 99, and ICE, incase of emergency, contacts. In the recent calls you can see missed calls, dialed calls, and received calls. In the settings & tools menu there is display, phone, call, network, Bluetooth menu, touch keypad, navigation wheel, USB auto detection, memory, and phone info; under the tools menu there is voice commands, calculator, calendar, alarm clock, stopwatch, world clock, notepad, and Ez tip calculator. Under the get it now & media center are: music & tones, picture & video, games, news & info, tools on the go, and extras. Lastly, under the messages menu there is: new message, where you can send one message to up to ten people, inbox, can hold anywhere from 90 – 110 messages, sent, holds up to 50 messages, drafts, if you shut your phone and don’t save the started message the phone will save it into the drafts, which is nice when someone shuts your phone on you, voicemail, for people that call and you don’t answer, mobile IM, which is where you can get on msn, yahoo, or aim messenger, email, if you have the web service it allows you to check emails, and last but not least, chat, where you can get on myspace or facebook. Overall this phone is very sleek, and nice to have.
